WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF

I AM QUEEN: CHARLOTTE

I Am Queen: Charlotte is a theatrical storytelling production that features the real-life stories of Black women. We explore their journeys, joys, pain and triumphs and the many ways that Black women prove themselves royal each and every day.

I Am Queen: Charlotte is produced by, written by, directed by, starring and featuring the stories of Black women. This work is equal parts living history, legacy and art. And we, Epoch Tribe, make it for the enjoyment of every and all.

CAST & CLASS OF QUEENS

We asked our community to nominate Black women from within Charlotte who make this city better, to be considered for our Spring 2024 Class of Queens. There more nominations than we could have imagined. The stories that folks shared about these amazing women were inspiring, powerful, and uplifting. Our committee chose twenty of those women to add to our Class of Queens. These women are women who show in many powerful ways for our community, for their families, and for themselves. They are more than their jobs or what they “do” in the world. They are a collection of stories and experiences that add richness and depth to our world. Through media, events, and programming in 2024 we will share their stories. We share the stories of some so that we can honor the stories of ALL of us.
